"In 2020, Xavier acquired a 1.8-hectare vineyard in Lacombe, a designated area within the Saint-Pierre de Boeuf commune, situated in the northern part of Saint-Joseph just south of Chavanay. He promptly cleared the unhealthy, poorly tended vines and replanted 1.3 hectares with Syrah and 0.5 hectares with Marsanne on the vineyard’s sandy granite soils. The 2023 vintage is the first to showcase this fruit. In contrast to the smooth and fruit-forward “Le Blanchard,” the “Lacombe – St. Pierre” reveals a more untamed character and firmer tannins, with amaro-like spice notes layered over a foundation of dark fruit, while preserving an elegant quality that reflects its sandy terroir."
