Godello is Spain's answer to White Burgundy.  Critics suggest that Godello could potentially be the Puligny-Montrachet of northern Spain.  This native Spanish grape almost went extinct in the 1970s, but was revived thanks to a concentrated effort from winemakers.  In the last 20 years, the grape has become quite popular especially in sommelier circles.  Some now consider to be Spain's best white grape.  Godello is enticing, delivering aromas reminiscent of quality Chardonnay.  It has notes of green apple, pear and citrus with a backdrop of white flowers and fresh herbs.  Godello has a silky, creamy texture and is medium-bodied and delicious.  Wine critic, Jancis Robinson, calls it "Glorious Godello".  Decanter says, "Choose Godello and you can't go wrong."  Done at the right site - such as Valdeorras - Godello blossoms.  The white wines of Valdeorras are exceptionally terroir-specific, elegant yet structured and with flavors that can only be found in Galicia.  Chardonnay fans should consider Godello.  It has Burgundian complexity with Spanish value.  This particular Godello made Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 of 2023 list.  The 2022 Bodegas Godeval Godello is very balanced with a marked structure and mineral acidity.  It's deep and elegant with a powerful bouquet.  It possesses aromas of honeydew melon, apricot and smoke.  This Godello has notes of vivid peach, yellow plum, green apple, vanilla bean, bergamot, river rock and bright herbs.  It has a vibrant finish with a hint of lemon-lime sorbet.  Enjoy!

"Pale yellow to the eye, this wine has honeydew melon, apricot and smoke aromas. Vivid peach and yellow-plum flavors are joined by vanilla-bean, bergamot-flower and river rock notes. The vibrant finish is marked with a splash of lemon-lime sorbet."

"Green tinge color with nacreous glints. It possesses an excellent and powerful bouquet. It is deep, elegant and reminiscent of tree fruit. On the palate it is light, soft and pleasant. The sharp and sweet touch of this wine makes it very personal and balanced, with a marked structure.  Fresh aromas of citrus and bright herbal notes that continue on the palate with green apple and pit fruit flavors that round out the mineral acidity."
