"The 2023 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard is quite an exotic wine. The long growing season yielded an unusually exuberant Chardonnay with notable oiliness but fewer of the intensely saline notes that are often such a signature here. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers, slate and white pepper give the Trout Gulch its effusive, complex personality."
Winemaker Notes:
"From dry farmed vines of old Wente clone, planted in 1980 and grown in sandy loam 3.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean near the town of Aptos in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. The grapes were whole cluster pressed, fermented in stainless steel by native yeasts, and aged in neutral French oak barrels."
