The lacy, delineated and more mineral-driven flavors are also delicate while retaining excellent punch and drive on the balanced, firm and classy finale. "The 2022 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has wonderful delineation on the nose, pure Pinote, more vibrant than the Fremiets with impressive focus and delicacy. This eschews the power of the vintage for something more refined. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry. This Volnay gets the saliva flowing, but it is a more cerebral take on the season, less fruit-driven, with a more understated finish than its peers. Impressive piquancy and sapidity (again) on the finish."
