Decanter, 95 Points 

"The dense, rich Gouttes d'Or is initially somewhat closed, but with time, ripe, buttery fruit aromas with hints of apple, apricot and honey open on the palate with hints of hazelnut and smoke. The texture is lush and powerful, but it is not yet showing its full potential. The grapes are from a 0.39-hectare parcel replanted with a combination of massale selection and clones in the '90s. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in cask before ageing over two winters."

"With every vintage, this is faithfully sappy and generous, and it does taste like the name suggests, the "Golden Drop". Some saline freshness gives the nose a lively bent before apple custard pie swoops in on the palate. Balanced, moreish and a bit magical."

"The 2022 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru has a quintessential Meursault nose with walnut and hazelnut infusing citrus fruit, displaying fine tension and a sense of energy. The well-balanced palate has a supple entry, quite concentrated yet refined with a slightly honeyed finish - hints of marmalade and quince. Lovely length here - superb."

"Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear and orange oil mingled with white flowers, apple blossom and freshly baked bread, Lafon's 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a textural attack that segues into a layered and lively palate, concluding with good grip on the finish."

"A subtle application of wood frames cool and once again, smoky aromas of white flowers, apple and toasted hazelnut. There is good if not special density and volume to the delicious and super-sleek medium weight flavors that possess very good power on the lightly mineral-driven finish that offers impressive depth and persistence. "Pale in colour with a clean white fruit on the nose. Plenty of body, quite strict even, some wood tannins, fairly generous but not especially forthcoming. Pure white fruit with a touch of liquorice. Persistent. Drink from 2028-2035."
