"Sublime, subtle, earthy notes of wild game and truffles that open into milk chocolate and black figs. It's an imposing, formidable Syrah (83%, with 4.7% each of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah) sourced from the Bien Nacido, Rancho Boa Vista and Sanford & Benedict vineyards, yet it's graceful and fragrant, too. Produced with 35% whole clusters and aged 20 months in French oak (63% new), it's a spicy, deeply satisfying wine with a finish that melds into soft, satin-edged tannins."

"The 2021 Syrah Unanswered Prayers is more inky and reserved, with tons of gamey black fruits, iron, game, bay leaf, and peppery, bacon fat-like nuances. Needing air to show at its best, it's full-bodied and concentrated, with a broad, layered mouthfeel, a beautiful sense of freshness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This classic, complex, incredibly compelling Santa Barbara County Syrah has tons to love and a singular character. Hide bottles for just 2-3 years if you can and enjoy over the following 10-15 years."
