"This wine is from Ben Riggs, formerly of McLaren Vale's Wirra Wirra winery. The cool climes of the Watervale subregion helped in a warm year like 2020, producing a classic Aussie Riesling that's perfumed but still super fresh and drier than the fruity nose suggests. Notes of lemon, lime, orange and ginger combine with crisp acidity and a talc-like texture. This wine could pair with a summer meal or gain more honeyed complexity in bottle from 2026 to 2030.
Winemaker Notes:
"The wonderfully delicate nose carries lime oil and soft citrus blossom characters seamlessly to the palate. Here, the mouth feel is abundantly vibrant and lifted offering zesty lemon and lime carefully balanced with bright fresh, full fruit sweetness. The Rieslings from the cooler sub-region of Watervale, south of Clare, are crisp, tangy and delicate and this example is no exception. A true expression of vineyards and vintage, Mr. Riggs Watervale Riesling 2020 represents precisely place and time."
