"Bright ruby. Very flinty, almost smoky nose of red cherry and black plum aromas and flavors. Smooth and fresh, with a lingering note of licorice on the smooth finish. Not the las word in concentration or complexity, but a lovely easygoing red made from 50-year old Nero d’Avola wines. The wine is named after Saverio (Sciave in local dialect), owner’s Massimo Padova’s grandfather."
Winemaker Notes:
"Sciavè is the result of ancient clones of Nero d’Avola which, besides exalting the limestone matrix of its terroir of origin in the Eloro appellation, carry forth the elegance gleaned from patiently aging the wine in barrel."
