"A very rare Spanish variety sometimes in the blends in Rioja. It is spicy, complex, and exotic with dark, almost hidden fruit. It is a low-yielding, aromatic, and intensely flavored variety that typically provides spice, exotic aromas and acidity. This wine is all about savory elements, fruit takes a back seat. It is much like a Mourvedre in a Rhone blend. It pairs well with savory spiced foods, including Indian, Moroccan and Middle Eastern. But you can also pair it like you would a spicier Rhone variety."
