In 2000 Doug and Ana Stewart bought a farm in the heart of Anderson Valley and started Lichen Estate. Locals know the property as Breggo Cellars which the Stewarts began in 2005. The property came out of the gate strong and accolades for Breggo’s wines, particularly their Pinot Noirs, started rolling in. Robert Parker called Breggo's 2006 Pinot Gris the “finest ever in the New World,” and then Food & Wine Magazine named Breggo the “Best New Winery of 2008.” Breggo became the highest rated winery in Mendocino County history. In 2009, the Stewarts sold the brand, but kept the land. They leased the property to the new owners and when the lease ended in 2014, the Stewarts resumed making wine under the Lichen Estate name. Lichen only grows Pinot grapes - both Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. They've farmed organically from the outset. They strive for elegance, focus, purity, structure and balance in all their wines. The 2019 Lichen Estate Moonglow Pinot Noir took home a Double Gold Medal from the 2022 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. It has notes of ripe cherries, fresh strawberries, orange peel, rhubarb and wet stone. This Pinot is medium bodied with silky tannins. It's elegant and refined with a long, savory finish. Each sip reveals layers and layers of new flavors to discover. Enjoy!

James Suckling, 92 Points
"Aromas of dried orange peel, strawberry and wet stone. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. Good depth and intensity on the steady, mineral finish. Pleasantly salty, too."
Winemaker Notes:
"The 2019 Moonglow Pinot Noir brings a refinement, focus, and beauty to the Moonglow lineup that shows off the maturity of Lichen's estate vineyard. Even in its youth, pitch-perfect red cherry notes let you know we grow it at the heart of Anderson Valley. This wine displays an uplift, dancing on the midpalate as it delivers a long savory finish. Drinking well now but will continue to drink well for 7-10 years."
