"The 2019 Vintage was pretty epic in Anderson Valley. A moderately warm season gave us some extra hang time for the grapes at this legendary Syrah Vineyard. We picked October 13th in pursuit of more complex flavors. The fermentation was allowed to go off ambient, wild. We decided to increase the amount of whole cluster content this season to 50% a 20% increase from the previous vintage.
The idea was to build more aromatics, tannin structure and depth into this powerful wine. Punched down twice a day; with the exception of the time we were locked out of the winery for Fire concerns which kept the open top Bin fermenter closed and sealed for about a week, the primary fermentation finished slow. Secondary fermentation completing in the early spring of 2020. The wine was aged for twelve months in neutral French oak and a once filled Hungarian oak barrel."
